Pastor Arlando Hill is devoted to guiding our congregation with compassion, and a deep sense of community.
Pastor Hill assumed leadership in 2019, following in the footsteps of his father and continuing the legacy of leadership that has defined our church. With a vision to become more community-focused, Pastor Hill has spearheaded numerous initiatives that address the needs of our neighborhood.
Under his leadership, our church has become a vital hub for community support. Inspired by a significant event in our area—an explosion that led to an emergency evacuation—Pastor Hill saw the importance of engaging more deeply with those around us. This pivotal moment led to the establishment of various outreach programs, including clinics, food banks, job training, and reentry programs for individuals transitioning from incarceration.
Melanie Hill, pastor Hill’s sister, plays a crucial role in our community efforts. Melanie spearheads many of our outreach initiatives, demonstrating unwavering dedication to serving both the church and the community. Melanie’s faithful service and passion for helping others are a testament to the commitment of Greater Good News Church.
Pastor Hills most cherished roles are those of a loving husband to Lady Shanelle Hill and a devoted father to their two children, Samara and Jackson.

Our History
The Greater Good News Church Of God In Christ was founded in 1954 by Allen Rucker, a man of great dedication and faith. For over three decades, he guided our church with a dedication that laid a strong foundation for future generations. After his passing in 1987, a new chapter began when Pastor Arlando Hill’s father, Willie Hill, assumed leadership. His legacy of service and leadership paved the way for his son, Arlando Hill, to take over as pastor in 2019.
Since then, Pastor Hill has continued to build on the church’s rich legacy, emphasizing community engagement and support. The explosion in our neighborhood was a turning point, highlighting the need for greater interaction with the surrounding community. As a result, we have expanded our outreach efforts, establishing food banks, job training programs, and other vital services to meet the needs of those around us.
